Welcome! Moors Wood is a small private woodland owned and managed by Sarah and Ian Blenkinsop as a nature reserve and as a sustainably managed source of various wood products.

Sarah is a freelance Environmental Educator, Lecturer and Forest School Leader. Based at her own site at Moors Wood, Sarah provides fun natural/recycled craft workshops; play or storytelling sessions; eco themed parties; workshops on food preservation, setting up an organic garden, setting up a composting area or keeping chickens; or training courses in various woodcraft and play skills. These services are available for adults and/or children. Sarah is also very happy to come to you and deliver any of the above, or to give talks to groups.

Forest School "Fun in the woods " sessions at The Garden Festival, Hellens Manor

Over a weekend of glorious sunshine  we attended this event and had an excellent weekend  playing in the woods, making all sorts of natural crafts and  promoting Herefordshire Forest Schools Group.

Many thanks to other FS leaders who came and helped with the sessions -  Anney from Cambium Sustainable, along with Fay, Charlie and Harriet who came and helped. We delivered "Fun in the Woods" sessions on Sat and Sun both morning and afternoon in the glorious sunshine in a lovely little woodland by the main manor house.

And thanks to Charlie, Molly, Harry, Belle, George, Beau, Jack, Tom, Mia, Harry, Kati, Sarah and all the other children and adults who came and had fun with us :) At the end of the weekend the wood was decorated with mud faces, handprints, flower patterned natural dyed bunting, dens for creatures large and small and all sorts of other fun things :)

We left lots of loose parts out over the two days ( mud, soft toys, fabric etc ) and a lot of children carried on playing in the clearing when we were not there, which was great to see!

Oh and the Green Woodpecker fledgling flew on Sunday, for those of you who saw it ( and heard it!) on Saturday :)

The Garden Festival organisers were delighted to have us there and we hope to be there again next year
on the weekend of June 11/12, 2016.

Thank you to the members of Herefordshire Forest Schools Network for your time and effort – we raised the profile of FS in Herefordshire and had some fun in the process :)
