Welcome! Moors Wood is a small private woodland owned and managed by Sarah and Ian Blenkinsop as a nature reserve and as a sustainably managed source of various wood products.

Sarah is a freelance Environmental Educator, Lecturer and Forest School Leader. Based at her own site at Moors Wood, Sarah provides fun natural/recycled craft workshops; play or storytelling sessions; eco themed parties; workshops on food preservation, setting up an organic garden, setting up a composting area or keeping chickens; or training courses in various woodcraft and play skills. These services are available for adults and/or children. Sarah is also very happy to come to you and deliver any of the above, or to give talks to groups.

Master Composter tells all!

Leominster Allotment Association obviously liked my Composting workshop! I have had a lovely letter from their chair, thanking me for the workshop and this is what they have to say about it on their website. under the title "Master Composter tells all"

Master Composter, Sarah Blenkinsop,  was at Ginhall Lane Allotments on Saturday afternoon. She shared her wide experience of composting and kept us entertained with lots of practical information about the best ways to go about making quality compost from ‘brown’ and ‘green’ waste. Sixteen people braved the chilly wind, and enjoyed some warm sunshine to listen and put questions to Sarah.
We covered:
  • What can be composted
  • The composting process
  • Different types of composter
  • Temperatures of composters
  • Pests and health issues

Our thanks go to Sarah for setting us straight and taking a look at the new community composter that is taking shape and making some interesting observations and suggestions. Also thanks to those ladies who produced some wonderful home-made cake!

I agree about the cake and thank you for the kind words :)
